Jule Schatz
Assistant Teaching Professor
Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign
Welcome! My name is Jule Schatz (she/her) pronounced you-la shots. I love teaching and mentoring students in introductory computer science. My goal is to help every student feel welcomed, capable, and supported in their exploration of the field.

I've spent a lot of time in Michigan! I got my undergrad degree at the University of Michigan in 2018 and my PhD in 2023.

I love trying new hobbies! Especially active ones. My current favorites are yoga, boxing, running, rollerblading, volleyball, and painting.

I love solo traveling! My favorite country so far is Portugal. While I travel I like to try new foods, hike, and paint.
Teaching
I started teaching computer science as an undergrad student in 2015 and have loved it ever since!
I've taught in C++, python, and Java covering many topics including introductory computer science (loops, if-statements, functions, ect.), data structures, and artificial intelligence.
Fall 2023 I am teaching CS 128
For students and fellow instructors I have created a blog of some of my advice and thoughts on teaching related topics!
